ABH Liquid Lipstick Review

The first mini liquid lipsticks by Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) released during late 2017, and the second I saw them through the company's Instagram, I was obsessed with it, so I had to try it. I  had always been an enormous fan ABH's for a while (only trying every one of their products from the Sephora), and it's been my favorite brand for liquid lipstick at Sephora. I've never owned a liquid lipstick from the company, so I decided to give it a try through this set.

Application:

The colors are incredibly pigmented and glide on the lips stunningly. I prefer the mini liquid lipsticks over the full sized liquid lipstick because it's easier to carry than a full liquid lipstick in your purse. For more product and lipstick to keep on the vanity, I would recommend the ABH full-size lipstick, but on-the-go, I would opt for the mini liquid lipsticks. The shades are incredibly pigmented, and I'm obsessed with the shades of the lippies from the set. They don't disclose this information on the package, but this lippie is waterproof as long as you don't smear it. I did a test on this product to check I wore it for a whole night to discover that the lipstick had the same look (maybe a tad bit darker) it did when I first applied it. I honestly hope there make more mini liquid lipsticks like this set. I see why this set would make an excellent holiday gift and an even better stocking stuffer.

When applied, it had a mousse-like texture, which is my type of liquid lipstick but later dried up. If you are uncomfortable with this, I saw a tip on Allure that says that you should apply lip balm or chapstick and then apply the liquid lipstick. It had a typical matte finish like most lip products have. It doesn't have a pleasuring smell like most Too Faced products but rather an icky, paint smell which I disliked.

The colors that come with the set are Dazed, Bittersweet, and Hudson. The colors are incredible since you can wear anything with a unique red shade, a brown, and a nude shade. My pick for the best liquid lipstick in the set would have to be Dazed. I love Dazed because it's a new take on the classic, statement-making, red shade which is the liquid lipstick shown above.

Shades All Described by ABH:

Hudson is supposed to be a dusky rose deep peach.

Dazed is a rusty redwood.

Bittersweet is a Swiss chocolate mauve.

My thoughts on each of the liquid lipstick:

  • Dazed- I loved this color so much. It has an apple red tone with some brown in it, which makes it different (a good different) compared to other reds I've tried.
  • Bittersweet- I have a neutral opinion on the brown liquid lipstick shades since I never actually wore them because I didn't think it suited my skin tone. I was surprised because Bittersweet did work on me and because of that I will buy some more brown shade lip products in the future. So thank you, ABH for making the impossible possible.
  • Hudson- Ah yes, Hudson, the nude liquid lipstick. Once again, I assumed that browns and nude shades didn't work for my skin tone, so I never bought it. I typically purchase red or bright colored lipsticks. I was again surprised because it looked stunning on me. It's my second favorite liquid lipstick in this set because I always have had a deep love for reds, the shade Dazed.

One thing I wished I did was to get an ABH lip liner with this set, so I had better results. I just used some lip liners I previously owned for Dazed and bought a new lip liner from the drugstore for Bittersweet and Hudson. They worked okay, but they could have worked better if I just purchased an ABH lip liner. Even though the liquid lipsticks had a precise applicator that was made for lining and filling your lips, I would opt for a liner. Without a liner worked just as great, but I mean I always use a liner for liquid lipsticks, so maybe I'm just not used to it. It's just a preference if you like the liquid lipstick brush lining than go crazy.

Besides that, my overall rating for this lipstick set is 9.5 out of 10 because of the paint smell of the lippies. I loved these ABH Liquid Lipsticks, and I hope when I get more money, I'll be able to purchase more full-sized liquid lipsticks (update: I bought my first liquid lipstick from ABH, the shade is called Craft) when I have more money.

Speaking of money, this product is priced at 25 dollars, but be aware that the mini liquid lipstick has 2.3 grams while an original size lippie contains 3.2 grams of product.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned because next time Alea and I will be doing a review on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Craft lipstick which is the one I referred to earlier that I recently purchased. Until next time, see ya.
